Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between 1950 and the present day, but it struggles to accurately interpret the visual data. For example, the claim that there is 'no specific development' in fruit trees is contradicted by the visual evidence of significant land-use changes. The description of the 'super mart' and 'holiday cottages' is vague and does not clearly contrast the specific spatial layout changes, such as the removal of the orchard or the expansion of the farm buildings. The report lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends, such as the shift from agricultural production to commercial and tourism-based facilities. Consequently, the information is not fully reported or compared effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'On the other hand', the internal structure of the sentences is often disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'such super mart', which lacks a proper antecedent or context. The transition between the description of the farm in 1950 and the present day is abrupt, and the concluding paragraph merely repeats general ideas rather than synthesizing the main features of the transformation. The flow of information is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often used inaccurately. Phrases like 'sustenance is available' and 'better enhancement' are unnatural and do not convey the intended meaning clearly. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the attempt to use more complex terms, such as 'exceeding sustenance', results in confusion. Collocations are frequently incorrect, such as 'chicken poultry home' instead of 'poultry shed' or 'coop'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the specific features of the map accurately, which hinders the precision of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'parking facility and holiday cottages is' and 'more customers is attracted'. Articles are frequently missing or misused, for example, 'in 1950 and today farm house building shows'. The sentence structures are often repetitive and lack the complexity required for higher bands. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation prevents the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
