IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustrate the changes that took place in a farm between 1950 and present day.
Overall, the area underwent significant redevelopment, with replacing the sheep grazing area to several other uses and all tracks were converted into developed roads being the most notable developments. In addition, Barn was replaced to Holiday cottage.
In 1950, east side of farm mainly covered by sheeps. To the west side there was a main road from which track was developed to its east, while a Barn was located on the east of track on the south side.
By the present time, the area had been considerably transformed. Sheep area is transformed into four different types of useful majors namely : Parking attached to main road, Camping field in middle where solar panels were also introduced. Furthermore, road was constructed. Despite of this, for surety of car parking new parking has been alloted in farm.
