Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between 1950 and the present day, but it fails to accurately report the main features. The description of the farm's layout is confusing and often inaccurate; for example, the claim that there is 'no specific development' in fruit trees contradicts the visual evidence of the new orchard and the removal of certain vegetable plots. The summary lacks a clear overview of the most significant changes, such as the transition from a purely agricultural site to one with commercial and leisure facilities. The information is presented in a fragmented way, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the transformation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'On the other hand regarding today farm house' and 'Moreover fruits and grocery sector is improved'. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the connection between sentences is often disjointed. The conclusion does not effectively summarize the main trends but instead introduces vague, repetitive statements about 'advancement and progress'. The lack of clear signposting makes the overall structure difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'limited resources of these produce' and 'super mart', which do not accurately describe the features shown in the diagrams. The student struggles with collocations, leading to phrases that sound unnatural, such as 'valuable assets increase more facilities'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and the repetitive nature of the language hinder the clarity of the report. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the range of vocabulary is insufficient for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('the farm house', 'the year 1950'), subject-verb agreement ('farm house building show', 'customers is attracted'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and spaces. The grammatical control is insufficient to convey the information with the necessary precision required for an Academic Task 1 response.
