Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the transformation, such as the addition of the camping field, solar panels, and the conversion of the barn. However, the description is somewhat disorganized, and some details are inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that the barn was relocated to the 'sharp north edge of the road' when it appears to have been converted in situ. While the overview identifies the main trend of modernization, the lack of precision in describing the spatial changes prevents a higher score. The response addresses the prompt but lacks the analytical clarity required for higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the sentence 'Most noticeably that the track has been replaced into road' is grammatically disjointed, making the flow of information feel unnatural. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often applied incorrectly or in a repetitive manner (e.g., 'Most noticeably' used twice). The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when describing the location of the new facilities, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes on the map.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision needed for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'undergone several facilities' (instead of 'added several facilities') and 'solar panels system has also been taken place' (instead of 'has been installed'). The phrase 'more facilitated and joyful' is also inappropriate for a formal report on map changes. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the inaccuracies in word formation and collocation occasionally impede the clarity of the description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('has been replaced into road'), missing articles ('on river side'), and awkward sentence construction ('The parking area on two different locations... have been constructed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalization (e.g., 'The barn', 'The parking area'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
