The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The maps illustrate how Beechwood Farm changed between 1950 and 2026.

Overall, it can be seen that the area underwent significant development, with several new facilities, for instance, solar panels, parking, and new roads. Turning to the west part of the area, some changes are old fruit trees and gardens; at present, there is a new farm shop. Meanwhile, in the west part, the 1950s-old barn is completely replaced, and it is now this place turned into a new weekend cottage. The rest of the other objectives remain the same as before.

Looking first at the map in 1950, the north side of the area was almost fully allocated with the sheep farm, but nowadays there are several changes, adding along with the parking sector, the camping area with a big tree, and the northeast area, which has the solar systems. In addition, the centre of the farm, old track, is removed and modified to new road with the barn.
