IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plan depicts the site of a beechwood farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Overall, it can be seen that there is significant change in both plans. The plan of 1950's farm is very basic and with less facilities. Whereas, in the plan of today we can see the more amenities as compare to the 1950's plan. There are alot of changes according to the latest requirments.

In 1950 the land is divided in to three part for the plantation of fruit trees, soft trees and vegetable trees. While the other area of the land is occupied with barn, farmhouse and chickens. There is a track which turns in a triangular shape and the outer area of the track is for sheeps. A river flows along the farm and a road goes at the end of the farm.

It can be seen that todays plan is well designed and have more activities to do on holidays. there is a new addition of farm shop in fruit trees area. Furthermore, the area for sheeps replaced with camping field solar panels and two parking areas on the opposite sides. Moreover, the track is turned out in the road. Holiday cottages built on the place of barn and barn moved to the corner of the road. In comparision, todays plan is more attractive and full of amenities rather than the 1950's plan.
