IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The provided pictorial representation compares the architecture of a farm, namely Beechwood Farm in 1950 with its current infrastructure.

In an overview, it is evident that with the introduction of modern facilities such as solar panels and dedicated parking areas, the present farm's structure is much better and organised in comparison to 1950.

At first glance, it is crystal clear that there are no sheeps in contrast to previously, rather this area on the north of the farm at present, consists of solar panels on the right-hand side accompanied by parking area on its bottom and camping field with trees and parking area on its left-hand side.

Probing further, the space for soft fruits, vegetables, farmhouse and chickens remained similar to that in 1950. The barn was replaced by holiday cottages and it shifted to the south of the triangular road whereas fruit trees space remained untouched but there has been an addition of farm shop just beside road.
