IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The map illustrates how Beechwood farm has transformed from 1950 to the present day.
Overall, the farm has changed from a complete agricultural land to a place focused on agriculture, commercial and also is being used for tourism.
The long muddy track has replaced by constructing roads across the farm. The place which is used for growing vegetables and soft fruits remained same, but a farm shop ids added in place where fruit trees are grown. Some place for parking is allocated to the opposite of the farm shop. A barn is built for storage near the tip of the triangular road. Nothing is relocated, they are either built or remained same except barn, it is relocated to wards the south. Old barn is changed into holiday cottage.
The large area where sheeps are grown is now developed for tourism. Solar panels are installed to generate electricity, another parking is added near the solar panels opposite to the holiday cottages. A huge space is changed into camping field, for tourists. The placement of chickens farm also not changed. The present farm is built to attract people to visit that place.
