The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps below compare the layout of a farm before and after its redevelopment.

Overall, it is evident that the farm underwent significant changes over years with several new facilities being added. The noticeable changes are placement of solar panels, parking areas and holiday cottages.

In 1950, The layout of farm was quite simple. The center area of farm was used for growing fruits and vegetables. While sheep were kept on the north-side of the farm. Furthermore, there was farmhouse, separate area for keeping chickens and Barn, all located on the eastern side.

After redevelopment, solar panels are added, sheep area is now removed and replaced by camping field with some trees. There are now two parking areas one is located on the western side whereas the other is on eastern side. The existing tracks are now transformed into roads whereas the barn is relocated and previous barn area is replaced by holiday cottages. However, the farmhouse and chickens sections remained unchanged. The fruits and vegetables are as they were, farm shop is added.
