Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the transformation of the sheep field into a camping area and solar panels, and the conversion of tracks into roads. However, the report is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion, which restates information already provided in the body paragraphs. While the key changes are identified, the comparison between the two periods could be more analytical. The description of the layout changes is occasionally confusing, such as the mention of the 'barn field' switching sides, which lacks clarity. To improve, focus on grouping information more logically and avoiding redundant summaries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as starting sentences with 'Therefore' or 'In the Conclusion' when these do not logically follow the preceding points. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the spatial changes on the map. The structure is somewhat disjointed, and the final paragraph largely repeats the content of the body paragraphs rather than synthesising the information effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'remain same' and 'transform into' are used frequently. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'modernisation have been place' instead of 'modernisation has taken place' and 'camping side' instead of 'camping site'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Improving the use of synonyms and more sophisticated descriptive language would significantly enhance the quality of the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Their are two graph illustrates', 'transformation take placed'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'One is representing the 1950 structure and other is for present condition'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and commas. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for agreement errors is essential.
