The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The two diagrams illustrate Beechwood Farm, with one representing its layout in 1950 and the other showing its present condition.

Overall, there has been significant modernisation at the farm. The sheep field on the northeast side has been transformed into a camping field and a solar panel field. Both areas have their own designated parking spaces, allowing the public to visit comfortably with their families. Meanwhile, the tracks have been converted into proper roads.

The former barn area has been replaced by holiday cottages, while the farmhouse and chicken field have remained unchanged. The barn field has been relocated to the west side of the farmhouse, where it is connected to the road.

The vegetable and soft fruit fields have remained the same. However, the fruit tree area has undergone a minor transformation, with a farm shop added beside it. The farm shop is connected to the main highway and is also close to the road.

In conclusion, significant modernisation has taken place at Beechwood Farm since the 1950s. A camping field and solar panel field have been added in place of the former sheep field, along with designated parking spaces. The tracks have been transformed into roads, while the original barn area has been replaced by holiday cottages. The barn field has also been relocated to the west side of the farmhouse. In contrast, the vegetable and soft fruit fields have remained unchanged, while a farm shop has been added to the fruit tree area.
