IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The plans illustrate the current layout of Beechwood farm and how it looked in 1950.
Overall, the farm underwent significant modernization, new areas such as barn, cottages, parking are introduced as well as installed solar panel. Moreover, the area for sheep has replaced with camping field, whereas the tracks are turned into proper road.
Looking the the old layout, the Beechwood farm had simple layout, main road was located in north-west and a river flowing from north -west to south-east. A substantial area was allocated for sheep in the north, fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables areas were accessible from tracks which was connected to main road. In the Sout-East, a barn , a farmhouse and a area for chickens was allocated.
Looking at the current layout, the road and the river remain the the same spot, the track is turned into propar road which connects main road to east. The area for shee is removed with camping field and parking space. Moreover, the barn has replaced with cottage for holiday. And solar panel and parking space are located to the North-East.
