Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the transformation of the track into a road and the addition of new facilities like the holiday cottages and parking areas. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as the shift from a purely agricultural site to one that incorporates tourism and renewable energy. Some details are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as the description of the parking area location. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview highlights the most striking changes rather than just stating that areas developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'other that that' and 'along to the two road side corner'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track exactly where certain features are located on the map. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the logical progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'barn stablished' (established) and 'sideway of road'. The repetition of 'stays same' and 'added' limits the lexical range. To improve, try to use more descriptive verbs and nouns related to map descriptions, such as 'converted', 'replaced', 'expanded', or 'situated', and ensure correct collocations are used to describe spatial relationships.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('a trees', 'a parking area'), subject-verb agreement ('vegetables stays same'), and tense consistency. Some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary prepositions, which occasionally hinders clarity. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for article usage would be beneficial.
