The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The following diagrams illustrate the transformation of an area known as the Beechwood Farm from 1950, to its state today.

The first map from 1950 show a simple farm with an area dedicated entirely to sheep herding aswell as chickens. The farming land is divided into 3 parts, with big fruit trees, shrubs and vegetables. This map includes only two solid buildings, the barn for storage purposes and a farmhouse. It can be assumed that the farm is built besides a river for fertility of the soil.

The map from today testifies certain redevelopments to the entire farm. An addition of a small farm shop is made to the farming land and the location and size of the barn has also been changed. The sheep herding area was replaced by solar panels, parking areas and camping site. The old barn has been converted into a holiday cottage for the guests that visit the Beechwood Farm. The old raw track is also turned into a solid road for better transportation.
