IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given map illustrates the information of changes that took place in past and have taken place in the present time in the map of Beechwood farm.

To begin with, in 1950, the was a road going from the North to the West. River was flowing toward the North-West. Fruit trees were planted near the the road . Vegetables and soft fruits were in the middle of the map. Sheep farm was in the North-East side . Barn and Farmhouse was constructed in the East side of the farm. Chickens were near the river in the South-East. Trach was built from road to the East side.

In present, farm shop is built near the fruit trees and on it's opposite side a small parking is constructed. Barn is converted in the Holiday cottages . New barn is constructed near the vegetables and river. Sheep field is replaced by the camping field and solar panels. Another parking is built near the solar panels. Track is converted into road.

Overall, it can be seen that many changes have taken place over time . Key changes are construction of two parking , camping field, solar panels and farm shop.
