IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans illustrate the changes that have taken place on a Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present day.

Overall, it is crystal clear that farm has undergone several changes. New features have been added such as solar panels, camping field, farm shop, parking and some have been removed.

It is apparent from the map that in 1950, the farm consisted mainly of agriculture land with number of fields used for different purpose. There was a farmhouse on the south-east side, together with areas for chickens and barn. On the north-west side, there were number of fields for fruits tress, soft fruits, and vegetables. Also, there was a road, river and sheep area on the site.

Moving further, today, the site has a more developed layout. Holiday cottages and parking have been introduced near farmhouse and area for barn and chickens have been changed. Field are remained the same but farm shop have been added next to it with parking area. There was a camping field and solar panels on the north-east side of the farm.
