Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, identifying the main features of the farm in 1950 and the present day. You have successfully highlighted key changes such as the addition of the farm shop, camping field, and solar panels, as well as the transition from a track to a road. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions 'significant changes', it could be more specific by summarising the overall trend of the farm's transformation from a purely agricultural site to one that incorporates commercial and leisure facilities. The description of the layout is generally clear, though some spatial relationships could be more precisely articulated to improve the reader's mental map.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organised, with a clear progression from the 1950 layout to the current one. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'Today farm has been shifting numerous changes' or 'While soft fruits and vegetables are remained constant'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words beyond simple time markers. Despite these minor issues, the overall structure remains coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'layout', 'boundary', and 'developments'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the layout shows the underwent significant changes' and 'parking has constructed'. These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the text. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more precise collocations and ensure that your verb forms match the nouns they describe. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice construction, such as 'soft fruits and vegetables are remained constant' (should be 'remain') and 'holiday cottages has the new change' (should be 'have undergone'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement throughout the text. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the information, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic agreement errors will significantly improve your performance.
