Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the maps, including the changes in land use and the addition of new facilities. You successfully identify the main trends, such as the modernization of the farm and the introduction of recreational and energy-related features. However, the overview is slightly weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes, such as the shift from purely agricultural use to a mix of agriculture and tourism. While you mention the 'significant modernization', it would be better to explicitly state that the farm has diversified its functions. The report is accurate, but some descriptions of locations could be more precise to ensure the reader can clearly visualize the layout changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the 1950 and current layouts. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally', 'While', and 'Furthermore', to connect ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'On the right side of the track' and 'On the right side of the road' is used in a way that feels slightly formulaic. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the same site') is more fluid would help elevate the score. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernization', 'layout', 'boundary', and 'diversified'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the layout the underwent' (grammatical error affecting lexical flow) and 'Today farm has been shifting numerous changes', which is an awkward construction. 'Remained constant' and 'remained unchanged' are used correctly, but the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise descriptive language to describe spatial changes, such as 'transformed into', 'replaced by', or 'expanded to include'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'the layout the underwent' (unnecessary article), 'Today farm has been shifting' (missing article 'The'), and 'parking has constructed' (passive voice error: should be 'has been constructed'). Additionally, 'holiday cottages is the new change' shows a subject-verb agreement error. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice for describing map changes will improve your accuracy.
