Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the maps, including the changes and the elements that remained constant. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the addition of the farm shop, camping field, and solar panels, while noting the stability of the farmhouse and river. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes, such as the transition from a purely agricultural site to one incorporating tourism and renewable energy. To improve, ensure the overview highlights the 'big picture' rather than just stating that a transformation occurred.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear distinction between the 1950 layout and the current site. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally' and 'While', to connect ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. For instance, the sentence 'Today the farm has been shifting numerous changes' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'layout', 'transformation', and 'boundary' appropriately. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the farm has been shifting numerous changes' (should be 'has undergone') and 'parking has constructed' (should be 'parking has been constructed'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and collocations related to map descriptions, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', or 'remained unchanged'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice constructions. Examples include 'vegetables are remain constant' (should be 'remain constant') and 'the river a still same' (should be 'the river remains the same'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. To improve, focus on mastering the passive voice for describing changes in maps and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout your writing.
