Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the task requires a comparison between 1950 and today, but the student only describes the current state of the farm, completely omitting the 1950 data. The overview is also insufficient, as it does not highlight the main trends or significant changes (such as the conversion of land use). The response is under-developed and fails to report the main features as requested in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is unclear. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as 'fastly' and 'after that', which do not effectively link ideas. The referencing is confusing, and the lack of a clear introduction or conclusion makes the text difficult to follow. The overall arrangement is disjointed, and the lack of transition between the description of the north and south sides hinders the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'big' and 'farm'. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'chikins', 'vegitablas', 'infomantin', 'cerlye', and 'taranspot'. These errors, combined with the misuse of words like 'beechwood' (likely a misinterpretation of the map) and 'cowor', make the text difficult to read. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately or with any degree of precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many run-on sentences and missing articles. Examples include 'the plans give the information' (incorrect article usage), 'the backword farm have' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'they are give all the farms water' (incorrect tense and structure). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are consistently inaccurate. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misuse of apostrophes and periods.
