The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps demonstrate the modernization of Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present.

Overall, it is evident that the site has undergone significant developments in recent times. Additionally, some new features have been added, and some facilities can be seen relocated on the map given today.

Looking closely at the main changes, the 1950 map indicates that the top of the east had a place for sheep. However, it is now converted into four different segments of facilities such as solar panels, a camping field, and two parking areas. In addition, tracks are replaced with clean roads, and the barn, which was previously located to the east, is relocated to the head of the triangle created by roads. In contrast, holiday cottages are added to the same place where the barn was seen in the past.

Subsequently, there are no adjustments for the side of soft fruits and vegetables. However, we can see a new feature, which is added just at the top corner of the fruit trees, that is a farm shop. Furthermore, there are no developments for the farmhouse and chickens, which have remained in the same position since 1950.
