Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of Beechwood Farm from 1950 to the present, noting key transformations such as the replacement of the barn with a holiday cottage, the addition of a farm shop, and the introduction of a camping field, solar panels, and parking areas. However, the overview lacks a clear summary of the overall spatial changes, and the details are somewhat fragmented. While it addresses the prompt, the lack of well-structured paragraphing and limited development of comparisons place it at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text suffers from poor structural organisation and a lack of proper paragraphing. The introduction merges into the overview and body paragraphs without clear delineation. Cohesive devices are minimal and often misused, such as 'In now a days' and 'on the other side of the road', leading to a choppy and disjointed reading experience. There is no clear logical progression guiding the reader smoothly through the maps, resulting in a Band 4.5 performance, rounded to 5.0 due to the overall attempt to group information by sides of the track.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word choice and collocation errors such as 'uptill now', 'Fruits trees', and 'lot to only sheeps'. While the student attempts less common terms like 'infrastructure' and 'modifications', inaccurate spelling and unnatural phrasing ('place of barn is change to the connection of the road') restrict the range. Communication is occasionally strained by these lexical inaccuracies, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The writing relies heavily on run-on sentences and comma splices, such as in the opening paragraphs where multiple clauses are strung together without proper punctuation. There are frequent tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'In 1950 farm has mandatory things' and 'In now a days Farm has totally change it's infrastructure'). Complex structures are rarely attempted accurately, and basic subject-verb agreement is frequently flouted, keeping the score at Band 4.5, reported as 5.0.
