The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The graph illustration compares the changes in a farm site, named Beechwood Farm, in 1950 and today.

Overall, the farm has changed to a great extent. Although most of the old sites are still there, new public amenities have been added to the farm site. Transport infrastructure is still the same.

In 1950, the farm had fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables between the river and the track. In the southeast direction, a farmhouse and chicken area were there, while a barn was there beside the farmhouse. Apart from that, a large sheep area was there. The main road was running from north to west.

In 2000, fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables are still there, with the addition of a farm shop in the fruit trees field. The track was converted into a proper road. Furthermore, a parking is made right in front of the farm shop across the road. Additionally, the sheep area is divided into two sections: one containing camping field and parking, and parking and solar panels are installed in the other one. Moreover, barn is demolished from there and shifted to the west of chicken area, while holiday cottages are made beside the farmhouse.
