Student answer (Band 5.0)
The pictures of Beechwood farm shows the comparison of 1950s farm and their progress till today . There are so many changes in this farm that happened in these all years .
To begin with , they really focused on tourism as we see in 1950 there were only fruits , vegetables and some kinds of animals , but in present time the farm is organised in different sections . Before there was no parking in the farm but now they have two parking sections one in the front and other is in the back . Apart from that there is solar panels installed in farm right now and the normal track turned into good road over these years . They mainly did too many things for tourism such as there are camping fields and holiday cottages are available for people now to chill and relax in farmsite . The farm has made really impressing progression over all these years .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by comparing the 1950 farm with the current site. Key features such as the addition of parking areas, solar panels, holiday cottages, and camping fields are correctly identified. However, the summary lacks a proper overview and clear structure for a Task 1 response, failing to highlight the overarching transformation comprehensively. Several comparisons are quite basic or vague, such as noting that fruits, vegetables, and animals were present before while the farm is now 'organised in different sections'. Consequently, this response meets the minimum requirement of addressing the task prompts but remains somewhat underdeveloped in synthesising the major spatial and functional changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into an introduction and a single large body paragraph. This is insufficient for a well-organised Task 1 essay, as it leads to a lack of clear overall progression. While basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from that', and 'right now' are employed, referencing is sometimes repetitive and mechanical. Furthermore, grouping too many disparate points into one sprawling paragraph hinders the logical flow of information. Paragraphing is not used sufficiently or appropriately to separate distinct thematic changes, such as infrastructure versus tourism facilities.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for conveying basic information, featuring terms like 'solar panels', 'holiday cottages', and 'camping fields'. However, the range is limited and relies on repetitive, informal expressions such as 'really focused', 'chill and relax', and 'really impressing progression'. There are also minor lexical and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'turning into good road over these years' rather than 'turning into paved roads' or 'being upgraded'. The vocabulary allows the writer to communicate the main points, but it lacks the precision and flexibility expected at higher band levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'To begin with, they really focused on tourism as we see in 1950 there were only fruits...' However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The pictures ... shows'), missing articles ('there was no parking in the farm'), and incorrect prepositions ('installed in farm right now'). Complex structures are often somewhat awkward or prone to error. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur with sufficient frequency to lower the score.
