The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps demonstrate the site of a farm in 1950 and today.

Overall, it is clear that the sheep area has been completely demolished into several new areas like parking, camping fields and solar panels. Additionally, the barn in 1950 has been converted into holiday cottages.

The fruit trees section in 1950 has an addition of a farm shop beside the road. Furthermore, a parking area has established directly opposite to the same farm shop. The barn area has been divided into three sections of the holiday cottage and now the barn has been shifted to the area between the vegetables and the chickens section.Previously, there was a track in between the Beechwood farm, but now it has been developed into a road.

The largest section in 1950 was the sheep area, though now it has been divided into 4 sections. The camping fields area is beside the road, while the solar panel is at the top right corner. Additionally, a second parking space has been developed exactly opposite to the holiday cottages.

Several areas are kept the same throughout the whole time period. The vegetables and soft fruits sections are at the same place they were in 1950. In addition, the Farmhouse and the chickens sections are also at the same place. The river and the road surrounding the Beechwood Farm are also untouched throughout the given time frame.
