The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The map illustrates the changes made on beechwood farm today as compared to 1950.

Overall, the most significant transformation was of roads from tracks and development of holiday cottages along with its related facilities.

Beechwood farm is surrounded by a river which doesn’t change in both periods. In 1950, there are varieties of fruit and vegetables available the west side of farm along the river, which has the addition of a farm shop on the corner today.

Track was built in the middle of fruits and animals back then, but today it was redeveloped into roads which met the relocated barn in the middle forming a triangle.

The most evident difference was made on the animal section today. Barn was relocated and holiday cottages were constructed on the same place. For this, many facilities such as parking area , solar panels and car parks were introduced in the place of sheep as compared to the past.

On the other hand, river, farmhouse and chickens were left unchanged.
