Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of both maps, noting key transformations such as the replacement of the old track with a modern road, the addition of a farm shop, camping field, solar panels, and holiday cottages. However, the overview is somewhat weak and repetitive ('display the site... It is the layout...'). Furthermore, there are some minor inaccuracies or confusions in describing the spatial relationships, such as claiming the farmhouse is tiny or newly added next to the chickens, whereas the farmhouse existed in 1950. Nonetheless, the core requirements of task 1 are addressed adequately, earning a band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response attempts a basic structure with an introductory paragraph, an overview sentence, and supporting body sentences detailing changes. However, paragraphing is poorly handled, with ideas crammed together rather than logically separated into distinct stages or geographic areas. Cohesive devices are mechanically used or misused (e.g., 'yet, in present day it converted', 'Furthermore, an addition of tiny farmhouse is alson in today plan next to the chickens before the holiday cottages'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, which disrupts the logical flow and progression. This level aligns with a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive ('plan', 'road', 'today', 'farm'). There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'present day site', 'amenitites', 'install' instead of 'installed', and 'Chickens separate portion'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'modifications', 'adjacent', and 'holiday cottages', frequent inaccuracies in form and usage place this performance firmly at band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense and voice, such as 'which is not given in the 1950's', 'it converted into modern road', 'Solar panels are also install', and 'no proper roads are made along with parking... are not shown'. Punctuation and article usage are also flawed (e.g., missing articles before singular nouns like 'modern road', 'farm shop', and 'camping field'). Because these errors frequently cause strain or confusion, the grammar score is 5.0.
