The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
The two plans illustarte the changes that have taken olace at Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present day.
Overall, the farm has undergone significanty development, changing from a mainly agricultureal area into a more diverse site that includes tourism and renewable-emnergy facilities. While some agriculture features have remianed unchanged, several new facilities have been introduced.
In 1950, the northern part of the farm consisted mainly of a large sheep field, while fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetablkes were grown in the southern and western areas. A track ran through the farm and connected the different sections. In addition, there was a barn, farmhouse and chicken area in the eastern part. The river surrounding the southern side of the farm has remained unchanged.
Today, the former sheep field has been transformed considerably. It now contains a camping field and solar panels, with two parking areas also being added. The old track has been upgraded to a proper road. A farm shop has been built beside the fruit-tree area, although the soft -fruit and vegetables sections have remained largely the same. Furthermore, the original barn has been converted into holiday cottages, while a new barn has been constructed near the road junction. The farmhouse and chicken area have remained in their original positions.
