The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagrams illustrate the layout of Beechwood Farm in 1950 and at present. Overall, there have been significant changes since 1950 to the present.

In 1950, at the center of the farm, there was a track which connects the east side of the farm to the west road.On the east side, along with the track, there was barn, at south of it stood a farmhouse for chickens. On the north side of the farmhouse, there was a huge barn for sheep. Moreover, there was a river flowing from the east to the northwest side of the farm, which passed under the road.In between the track and river, there were feilds for vegetable crops, soft fruits, and fruit trees.

At present time, a solid road has been built where the track used to be, connecting the east side of the farm to the west side. On the east side, along with the the road, Holidays cottages have been added. Beside it, the chicken farmhouse remains in the same place, the barn has been relocated closer to the chikken farmhouse. On the north side  of the farm, the huge barn for sheep has been divided into two areas; one for camping and the other for solar panels. Additionally parking has been added on both the east and the nothwest side. The river remains on the same side where it used to be. In between the river and the road, the feilds for vegetable, soft fruits, and fruit trees remains in the same place but with the addition of Farm shop.
