The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The layouts display Beechwood farm in 1950 and the latest version as of today.

Overall, the farm has undergone significant redevelopment. It has transformed itself from a traditional farm with limited recreational facilities to an attractive holiday destination.

In 1950, Beechwood farm had fields of vegetables and various fruits enclosed by the flowing river from the bottom end and the track from the upper end. The track forms a triangular path midway which slightly separates the fields from the other end of the farm which consists of a barn, a farmhouse and some chickens. Just above the track there's an entire area dedicated to sheep.

Since then, the facility has witnessed extensive renovation. The track has been reconstructed to a road whose triangular pathway in the middle leads to a barn, while the previous barn has been replaced with cottages. The fruit field has been introduced with a farm shop, while parking areas have also been constructed on both the upper ends of the road. The sheep area has been occupied by a camping field, a tree and solar panels. On the other hand, area dedicated to farmhouse, chickens and the vegetables and fruits fields remain the same.
