The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The two map illustrate the structural developments that have taken place at Beechwood Farm from 1990 to the present day.
Overall, the farm has changed considerably throughout the period. The main changes are the addition of a farm shop, a camping area, holiday cottages and solar panels. The sheep field was removed, while some places, such as vegetable plots, some fruit areas and farmhouse remained unchanged.
In 1990, there was a simple track connecting the main road to the farm. Today, that track has been converted into a proper road. In north-western part of the farm, the river, vegetable plot and soft fruit area stayed the same. However, the part of fruit tree orchard has been replaced by a farm shop and parking lot.
The biggest changes can be seen in the central and eastern part of the farm. The sheep field has been replaced by a camping field, and the solar panel has added to the eastern side. In southern side farmhouse and chicken enclosure are still in a same placed, while barn has replaced by holiday cottages and has been relocated at the end of the road.
