The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two maps illustrate the transformations of Beechwood fram from 1950 to the present.

Overall, it is clear that the fram underwent significant changes over the period shown, with several facalitice added and some existing features being removed or replaced.

In 1950, the farm was mainly used for agricultural production. There were areas for fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables by the river. A system of tracks connected the barn, farmhouse, and chickens coop in the southeastern part of the farm, while the northern part was dedicated to sheep grazing.

Today Beechwood farm has undergone a series of significant changes. The track have been replaced by roads. Agricultural elements like sheep area are gone. New addition include such as parkings, camping field with tents, and solar panels. The southwestern part of the farm remained largely unchanged, with only a farm shop being added among the fruit trees. In the southeastern part,the only change was the barn was replaced into holiday cottages.
