The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Two maps of Beechwood farm is given where one is from the 1950 and the other one is the recent layout of the place.
Overall there are various new infrastructures in the farm and an array of solar panels are installed for renewable energy production. These new infrastructures focus not only on the cultivation part but also on attracting people for recreational activities and business prospects.
In 1950 a track was available that connected the farm land from the main road. Near to the river the farm land were segmented into three cultivation areas which were fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables. Across these lands on the other side of the track the area was allocated for the sheep. After the vegetable land on the bend of the river this area had a barn, farmhouse and a chicken area.
Today the overall layout of the main road and the river is maintained but the track is now developed into roads. In the fruit tree farm land, a farm shop is opened and opposite to it a parking area is allocated. The sheep area is divided and one half is converted to camping field and the other half is used to set up solar panels along with a small parking area. One side of the triangular section of the road paves a path to the newly constructed barn. The earlier barn location is renovated to provide area for holiday cottages.
