Student answer (Band 6.0)
The first artitech maps shows the old view of the farm in 1950 and the new map illustrates the few advanced changes made to the farm till current date.
Overall, there are number of changes occured over the seven decades at the beechwood farm. The wide area dedicated to sheep is now divided and transformed into multiple key areas. One significant change is the installation of solar ponals that will help by providing power supply to different areas of the farm like holiday cottages, farm shop, farmhouse etc.
A building that was previously being used as a barn is now transformed into a holiday cottage to easily accomodate the visitors. While, the barn is relocated to middle of the farm, at the diverted end of the road.
The track that runs thorugh the whole farm is changed into a road leading to different areas of the farm. There are two parking areas introduced in farm, one is at the start of road on the left side and other is at the end of the road. The road also have a diversion in the middle that leads directly to barn.
Along with initial parking spot, camping feild has been setup to allows visitors to camp under the open sky. Right opposite to same parking spot, a farm shop has been setup that allows visitors to shop the essentials they need.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student covers the main changes shown on the maps, such as the replacement of the sheep area with holiday cottages, a camping field, and solar panels, as well as the expansion of the road network and the addition of parking spaces. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, outlining that significant transformations have occurred. However, there are some inaccuracies in reporting specific details; for instance, the student states that the old barn was transformed into a holiday cottage and a new barn relocated to the middle, whereas the maps actually show four holiday cottages newly built separately from the existing barn. Additionally, some minor features like soft fruits and vegetables are omitted. Overall, the response addresses the prompt reasonably well, but the minor misinterpretations of the diagram place it within Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged into a logical overall structure, starting with an introductory sentence and overview, followed by body paragraphs discussing specific structural changes, roads, and amenities. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'Overall', 'One significant change', 'While', and 'Along with initial parking spot'. However, paragraphing could be improved, as some paragraphs are quite brief and single-sentence paragraphs disrupt the flow. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional mechanical transitions make the progression slightly disjointed. This level of organisation aligns with Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas about map transformations, utilizing terms like 'transformed', 'installation', 'relocated', and 'diversion'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'artitech' instead of 'architectural' or 'aerial', 'occured' instead of 'occurred', 'ponals' instead of 'panels', and 'accomodate'. Furthermore, phrases like 'few advanced changes' are somewhat unnatural. Because these lexical errors and typos do not impede overall comprehension, the performance fits the Band 6 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and subordinate structures (e.g., 'that will help by providing power supply...'). However, grammatical and punctuation errors occur frequently, including subject-verb agreement issues ('there are number of changes', 'The road also have'), missing articles ('at start of road'), and run-on structures. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear and does not cause severe strain for the reader. This combination of a mixed structure range and frequent control errors warrants a Band 5.5 score, which rounds to 6.0 for overall descriptor fit.
