The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate the changes that occured in Beechwood farm between 1950 and the present day.

Overall, it is clear that the area was significantly developed. The most notable changes involve the transformation of sheep area into a champing field, set up solar panels and developed parking areas. Some areas of the map remain untouched.

Looking at the northeast side of the map, in 1950, there was a large sheep area. However, by today, this has been replaced with solar panels in northeast corner with a parking area at the south side and a camping field and a tree was planted in the western side along with a parking was set up at the northwest corner.

The old track in the center of the map in 1950 was replaced by a Road, along with a barn was constructed at the edge of the triangular road. Some areas remain untouched like Farmhouse, chickens and vegetables areas; however a farm shop has been built at the east side of the fruit trees. A barn at the east side of the road has been converted into holiday cottages.
