The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps illustrate the changes that occurred in Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present day.

Overall, it is clear that the area was significantly developed. The most notable changes involve the transformation of the sheep area into a camping field, setting up solar panels and developing parking areas. Some areas of the map remain untouched.

Looking at the northeast side of the map, in 1950, there was a large sheep farming area. However, today, this has been replaced with solar panels in the northeast corner with a parking area on the south side and a camping field and trees were planted on the western side along with a parking lot was set up on the northwest corner.

The old track in the center of the map in 1950 was replaced by a road and a barn was constructed at the edge of the triangular road. Some areas remain untouched like the Farmhouse, chicken and vegetable areas. However, a farm shop has been built on the east side of the fruit trees. A barn at the east side of the road has been converted into holiday cottages.
