The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans illustrate the site of a farm in 1980 and the current condition of the same site.

Overall, the spcae of the Beechwood farm has been changed significantly compared to 1980 condition, most importantly, it has introduced various new amenities such as solar panels, holiday cottages and many more.

In 1980, the northern part of the site was occupied mainly for the sheep, whereas a river was located in the southern part. There was a track system in the upper part of the site which was covered with many plants on one side, like fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables. In addition, the site provided a barn for the cattle, a farmhouse for the animals and a particular area for the chickens, located in the eastern zone.

Currently, the area for the sheep has been demolished and replaced with many new features such as a parking zone and a camping field where people can stay in tents. The site has provided some solar panels as a source of renewable energy and an additional parking area besides the solar panels. Again, the track has been developed and turned into road and now a junction of the two roads has been connected with a barn for the livestock. Farm shop has been introduced beside the starting point of the road and also many cottages have been constructed for the holiday purposes. On the contrary, the farmhouse and the corner for the chickens have remained in the same location.
