Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by identifying the main changes between 1950 and today at Beechwood Farm. You provide a clear overview and report key features such as the removal of the sheep yard for a camping field and solar panels, and the addition of holiday cottages and a farm shop. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, and certain details are slightly imprecise, such as describing the relocation and positioning of the barn. To achieve a higher level, you should ensure all key features are selected and reported with greater clarity, avoiding any vague generalisations about structural shifts across the site.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement of information, allowing the reader to follow the main transformations of the farm from the past to the present. You attempt to link sentences and sections using introductory phrases. However, the cohesion feels somewhat mechanical and run-on in places, particularly because the entire body of the text is structured as a single very long sentence with minimal punctuation and paragraph breaks. To improve, you need to divide your writing into clear paragraphs—such as a separate introduction, overview, and body paragraphs—and use referencing and cohesive devices more smoothly to guide the reader through the comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'redevelopment', 'solar plant', and 'altough'. However, there are noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'attractrs', and 'altough'. Furthermore, some word choices and collocations are awkward, such as 'big removal changes' and 'setup solar plant'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict your score. To reach a higher band, you should broaden your range of precise vocabulary, improve control over word forms, and check your spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily hindered by run-on sentence structures and a lack of proper punctuation. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Map illustrate'), incorrect prepositions ('underwent to'), and missing articles ('in Northern/Eastern side', 'on eastern and western side'). Because the entire response basically consists of only two very long sentences linked by conjunctions, the control over complex grammatical structures remains inconsistent, and frequent errors emerge. To improve, focus on separating your ideas into distinct sentences with correct punctuation, managing verb tenses consistently, and ensuring accurate article and preposition use.
