Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of Beechwood farm in 1950 and today, presenting a basic overview and identifying key changes such as the introduction of a farm shop, camping field, and holiday cottages. However, the development of ideas is limited and mechanical. Certain comparisons lack clarity, such as describing the barn's shape change or tracing the spatial layout of the older structures. While all parts of the visual prompt are touched upon, the information is presented without fully extended support or a smoothly integrated overview, positioning the response firmly at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a basic overall organisation with distinct paragraphs dedicated to the 1950 layout and the current layout. However, there is a lack of clear progression, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, such as 'By the way chckens and farmhosue locations remain same.' Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, making the connections between sentences feel strained. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion and referencing need substantial improvement to achieve a clearer narrative sequence throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common terms related to the map features, such as 'modifications', 'segregation', and 'eco-friendly', but these are accompanied by frequent word choice errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes like 'ias', 'prioper', 'moreever', 'chckens', and 'farmhosue'. These lexical inaccuracies restrict precision and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader in interpreting the specific details of the map transformations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There is a very limited range of sentence structures, with heavy reliance on simple forms and faulty attempts at complex sentences. The text contains frequent grammatical errors, including incorrect verb tenses and forms ('what kind of modifications have done', 'it hade road', 'it has given'), missing articles, and awkward prepositional phrases. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also weak, leading to run-on expressions that can cause strain and confusion for the reader.
