Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all parts of the task by outlining the main changes between 1950 and the present day at Beechwood Farm. An overview is provided, noting the shift from a traditional agricultural setting to a diversified commercial enterprise featuring a farm shop, camping field, and holiday cottages. Key spatial transformations, such as the replacement of the sheep area with a camping field and solar panels, are clearly reported. However, some areas lack full development or precision in detailing the exact layout changes, which prevents the score from reaching a higher band. Overall, the selection and reporting of main features are adequate and directly address the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The report demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into paragraphs, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs discussing retained and new features. Progression is generally logical, moving from general changes to specific zone-by-zone alterations. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However in the present times' and 'Originally', but some linking is mechanical or slightly awkward. Referencing between sentences occasionally lacks smooth integration, and punctuation around transitions could be refined to ensure a more natural flow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic comparisons and changes through words like 'transformation', 'renovated', and 'relocated'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'fram' instead of 'farm', 'primarly', 'introducted', 'feild', 'parkinng', and 'convered'. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but these inaccuracies in spelling and collocation occasionally draw attention. To improve, the writer needs to ensure greater accuracy in basic terminology and exercise more precision when using less common lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as introductory clauses ('Overall, the farm has transformed...') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in sentence construction, verb forms, and articles, including 'only has now converted', 'the farm has most things similar', and 'Where as the old track has been developed'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas after introductory phrases and run-on phrasing in places. These errors indicate a control level typical of the lower-middle band, where structures are attempted but lack consistent accuracy.
