Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by identifying significant changes between 1950 and the present day at Beechwood Farm, such as the conversion of the sheep area into a camping site and solar panels, and the addition of a farm shop and holiday cottages. However, some areas are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the student claims that the 'soft fruits, vegetables and farm house areas are not changed over the period of time', whereas the visual plan indicates that the old barn became holiday cottages and a new barn was built elsewhere, and parking areas were newly introduced. While an overall trend is attempted in the introduction, the lack of complete accuracy and detail in reporting all major features keeps the response at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement by dividing the information into paragraphs with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing specific spatial changes. However, progression is sometimes faulty and mechanical. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as starting multiple sentences and clauses with 'Also', 'Moreover', and 'Farthermore'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'the far side of the solar panels parking area there was a barn site is became a holiday aottages now days'. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical transitions require smoother connections to guide the reader effortlessly through the spatial comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about farm conversions, parking, and camping fields. There are numerous word choice, collocation, word form, and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'nov convertad' instead of 'now converted', 'facilitys', 'fild', 'coverd', 'tainny', 'aottages', 'tringel', and 'accsess'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary like 'facilitys' and 'highlighted factor', these attempts are marred by inaccurate spelling and forms. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include 'Overall, farm have a big sheep area and it was converted in to a new facilitys', 'the track was nove being a road which accsess the whole farm', and 'it was farm shop is placed at fruit trees side'. Punctuation and word boundary spacing issues are also present. These errors reflect a limited control over complex structures, although meaning can generally still be made out through the context of the maps.
