Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response covers some of the main features of the maps, noting elements such as the conversion of the track into a road, the addition of a farm shop and holiday cottages, and the positioning of solar panels and a camping field. However, the coverage remains partial and somewhat disjointed. While an overview is attempted at the beginning, key details are omitted or described with limited clarity, such as the exact transformation of the barn area. The ideas are presented in a basic manner without sufficient extension or a fully developed comparison between the two time periods, placing this aspect of the writing firmly within the range of partially addressed tasks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The text suffers from a lack of clear overall progression and organization. The response is written as a single dense paragraph rather than being appropriately structured into an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately, with repetitive transitional phrases like 'As we can see' and 'finally'. Pronoun referencing and logical linking between sentences are occasionally faulty, which disrupts the flow of information and forces the reader to work harder to follow the comparison between the 1950 layout and the current plan.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The writer relies on basic and repetitive terms such as 'place', 'road', and 'changed', alongside noticeable word-form and spelling errors like 'comping', 'mad', 'shiffted', and 'farmehouse'. There are also awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'the site farm in different decade'. While attempts are made to use some less common vocabulary related to the maps, the high frequency of errors in spelling and lexical precision restricts the score to a limited range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of basic sentence structures with frequent errors. There are numerous mistakes in article usage, plurals, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'this two pictures', 'the new facilities has been mad', and 'there is a solar panels'. Attempts at complex sentences often result in faulty structures and awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with spacing around punctuation marks. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, although the core meaning remains partially intelligible.
