The construction of roads is linked to barn, parkings are built near main road, solar panels, farm shop are introduced in the current plan. Furthermore, forestation and camping field are also introduced. Whereas in 1950's plan, there is a plain field for sheeps, tracks are mapped and less developed.

Nevertheless, both plans share a common theme, there are fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables fields and poultry farms which are not changed.

Overall, the plans shows the development of the beechwood farm over the time, bringing positive changes without changing the basal structure. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by attempting to summarise the main features and compare the two maps of Beechwood Farm. An overview is provided, noting the overall modernization, introduction of facilities like parkings and holiday cottages, and retention of agricultural elements such as fruit trees. However, some aspects of the task are under-developed or imprecise. For example, the writer mentions 'forestation' which is inaccurate given the visual data shows a camping field, and refers to 'sheeps' in 1950 instead of an open sheep area. Key specific changes, such as the addition of the farm shop, solar panels, and the transformation of the layout into tourist amenities, are introduced but lack detailed integration. Consequently, the response hits the requirements for a Band 6 by presenting a relevant overview and main features, but lacks the fully extended and supported details needed for a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and logical progression, moving from an introductory overview to specific changes, continuities, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Furthermore', 'Whereas', and 'Nevertheless', although some referencing and connections are occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The construction of roads is linked to barn, parkings are built near main road...'. Paragraphing is utilized to separate different elements of the analysis—such as new infrastructure versus unchanging agricultural plots—which helps structure the response visually and logically. However, referencing is not always clear, and the flow between individual sentences could be smoother to reach the level of a Band 7.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

An adequate range of vocabulary is attempted for the task, with domain-specific terms like 'modernization', 'infrastructure improvements', 'solar panels', and 'basal structure'. However, there are noticeable lexical and word choice inaccuracies, such as using 'parkings' (an uncountable noun treated as plural) and 'sheeps' (the plural of sheep is sheep). The attempt to use less common vocabulary results in some minor slips that do not impede communication but prevent the vocabulary from achieving the flexibility and precision required for a Band 7. Overall, the range of words is sufficient to convey the main features of the maps, but greater precision and correct word forms are needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses (e.g., 'poultry farms which are not changed'). There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. These include missing articles ('The plans illustrates' instead of 'The plan illustrates' or 'The plans illustrate'), subject-verb agreement issues, and comma splices, such as in the opening sentence ('...present day, major difference is...'). While these errors do not impede communication and allow the reader to grasp the core message, they persist regularly enough to keep the response at a Band 5.5 to 6 level, reflecting a control of grammar that contains some frequent minor inaccuracies.
