Student answer (Band 5.5)
The two images which gives the infomation about the plans of a farm sites illustrates the changes happened over the years from 1950 to present.
Overall, at present it clearly shows sheep area is completely converted and made space for other aminities which shows the growth and development where plenty of new catagories are designed in the years which includes camping field, farm shop, holiday cottages, solar pannnels and parking spaces have been created in two spaces, tracks had modified into roads, barn moved to other space. Although some factors reamined same even today.
Sheep area which was almost half of the site had turned out into various attractions whereas fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables, farm house are untouched. Barn is moved a little and connected to the roads which were tracks earlier in 1950.
The drastic changes are creating holiday cottages, camping field, parking spaces and solar pannels is the most advancement in the site when compared in 1950. However river view looks same in both the sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making comparisons between 1950 and the present day. You successfully note key developments such as the conversion of the sheep area, the addition of holiday cottages, a camping field, a farm shop, solar panels, and parking spaces, while correctly observing that elements like the fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables, farmhouse, and river remained unchanged. However, some areas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the exact positioning of new features relative to the old layout could be integrated more smoothly into a clearer overview. To reach the next level, you need to ensure that every major change is fully extended with precise comparisons rather than relying on brief mentions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise information logically, starting with an introductory overview and following with body details comparing the past and present. However, paragraphing is somewhat weak and irregular, resulting in a text that feels slightly disjointed. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of phrases like 'at present' and 'whereas'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, which disrupts the natural flow of progression. To improve in this criterion, you should group your ideas into distinct, well-structured paragraphs—one for the overall changes and one or two for specific detailed comparisons—while using a wider and more natural variety of linking words to guide the reader seamlessly through the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common terms such as 'amenities', 'attractions', and 'advancement'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors—such as 'infomation', 'aminities', 'catagories', 'reamined', and 'pannnels'—alongside awkward word choices like 'tracks had modified into roads' instead of 'tracks were modified into roads'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips prevent the writing from achieving a higher score. To reach the next band, you should expand your control of vocabulary related to spatial changes (such as 'transformed', 'converted into', 'relocated') and carefully check your spelling and word forms before finalising your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and comparative structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in sentence construction and agreement, such as 'The two images which gives' (should be 'give'), 'changes happened' (should be 'changes that happened'), and run-on sentences like 'where plenty of new catagories are designed in the years which includes...'. Punctuation is also neglected in places, leading to long, rambling sentences that lack clear boundaries. To achieve a higher band, you need to reduce these structural errors by ensuring subject-verb agreement, using relative pronouns accurately, and breaking down long, complex clauses into shorter, grammatically sound sentences.
