Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by comparing the layout of Beechwood Farm in 1950 with its current state. You provide a clear overall overview highlighting major transformations such as the introduction of a camping field and solar panels. However, some aspects of your overview and body paragraphs are repetitive or lack full clarity, such as the redundant mention of the camping and parking areas. Furthermore, certain details are slightly underdeveloped or confused, such as stating that sheep grazing was replaced by a camping area when the sheep area was actually removed for these new amenities. To move to a higher band, ensure that every main feature is reported with absolute precision and fully developed without unnecessary repetition.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response presents an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information chronologically and spatially, dividing the text into an introduction with an overview and a body paragraph detailing specific changes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in awkward transitions like 'along with this solar panels also installed for an energy generation.' Paragraphing is used, but the internal logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother and better connected. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each sentence flows logically into the next without abrupt shifts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'underwent significant changes', 'structured and organized', and 'installation of solar panels'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and awkward phrasing throughout the text, such as 'for holidays and vacation purpose', 'Poltary' instead of poultry or chickens, and 'ending of triangular road'. Additionally, there are minor morphological and collocation slips, such as 'tracks is replaced with roads' and 'build in the fruit tress farm'. To achieve a higher band, work on using precise vocabulary consistently and avoiding collocation and spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at varied structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in articles, prepositions, verb forms, and plurals that recur throughout the text. Examples include 'compare the Beechwood Farm', 'farm become more structured', 'development of sheep grazing area which is replaced camping', 'there was barn', 'tracks is replaced', and 'fruit trees farm are remained'. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader. To improve your grammatical score, you need to exercise greater control over basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and articles to ensure error-free complex sentences.
