Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad comparison between the 1950 farm and its present-day layout, and correctly mention several additions, including the farm shop, parking, camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, key details are misreported or unclear: the river does not pass across the three crop areas, and the farmhouse and chicken enclosure have not simply changed position. The account also says the cottages replaced the former barn, although the current barn remains on the site in a different position. The overview is vague and does not clearly summarise the main transformation from agricultural use towards visitor facilities. To strengthen the response, describe the stable features accurately, then explain the major changes and their locations using clear comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the layout and new facilities. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Additionally,” “However,” and “Moreover” help signal relationships between points. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph beginning “It is evident that river…” combines several claims without a clear spatial sequence, and the final paragraph repeats the list of additions before adding further location details. Some references, such as “these areas,” “this area,” and “the former moment,” make it difficult to identify exactly which features are meant. Organise the description by area or by unchanged and changed features, and use more precise references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “junction,” “agricultural land,” “parking sections,” and “solar panels,” and you attempt to describe location and change. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity, for example “outiline,” “positition,” “invoves,” “paased,” and “hoilday.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “at the time today,” “in the former moment,” and “a triangular road instead of a track.” Use standard map-description terms such as “at present,” “previously,” “road network,” and “remains in the same location.” Check spelling carefully and choose precise labels for features shown on the plans.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and clauses introduced by “which.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Examples include “river paased across the areas,” where the verb form and sentence construction are faulty, and “There is hoilday cottages,” where the subject and verb do not agree. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “Farmhouse was also present” and “above the site for chickens.” Tense and comparison patterns need more control when describing past and present layouts. Practise accurate present and past forms, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
