Student answer (Band 5.0)
These pictures summarise the information of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
This farm is situated at the bank of a river alongside with a main road. The tracks which are used as tracks before, now converted as a road in the farm field. Fruit trees are now acompanied with a Farm shop while on the opposite side of the road, there is a parking area. This place is basically a plain field, used by sheep but now it is converted into parking area , camping field and Solar panels. Soft fruits remained safe on their place since 1990. Same is the case with vegetables. Barn is replaced from North east side of the field to U round of the roads, While its first place were changed by the Holiday cottages. Farmhouse and Chickens were remained still where they were before.
Lots of changes have been taken by the authorities to impress the modern visitors

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the comparison between 1950 and today and report several relevant changes, including the new farm shop, camping and solar-panel areas, and the relocation of the barn. However, the summary is only partial: it does not clearly present the main overall transformation, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the sheep area became a camping field and solar-panel area, not a parking area; parking is shown in two separate locations. The claim that soft fruits and vegetables have stayed in place “since 1990” is unsupported—the earlier plan is dated 1950. The response also contains 148 words, below the required 150. Add a concise overview and check each location against the plans.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes a basic sequence from the general setting to changes in individual areas, and linking words such as “while” and “but” show an attempt to compare the two plans. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph and do not follow a clear route through the site, so the reader must work to connect the changes. References such as “this place,” “its first place,” and “where they were before” are not always precise. The final comment about impressing visitors does not develop the map description. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and grouped details—for example, changes in the western fields followed by developments in the eastern area—and use clear location references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “river,” “main road,” “parking area,” “camping field,” and “Holiday cottages.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the changes. However, the range is limited, and several choices or combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “at the bank of a river,” “accompanied with a Farm shop,” and “U round of the roads.” “Plain field” also does not clearly describe the former sheep area. Spelling errors such as “acompanied” are noticeable, while inconsistent capitalisation affects presentation. Build a more precise set of map-description phrases, including “beside the river,” “was converted into,” “to the south-east,” and “at the junction of the roads.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and clauses beginning “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in tense and verb forms occur in phrases such as “The tracks which are used as tracks before” and “Lots of changes have been taken.” Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “Farmhouse and Chickens were remained still where they were before.” Several sentences lack clear grammatical relationships between their parts, which can make the intended comparison difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-to-present structures, such as “The tracks have been converted into a road” and “The farmhouse and chicken enclosure have remained in the same location.” Use full stops to separate ideas and check articles and prepositions.
