Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The plans showing the differences involved in 1950 to today of the site. Well, the plan made in 1950 showing a road and bridge crossing the river in the west side which is same as it is today. On the other hand, there is a track in the mid of the plan by passing through it you can see some sections where different type of things are available like, vegetables, soft fruits and also the fruit tress, these all things are same like in 1950 and till today, but there is a small difference as beside the lower side of road farmer shop is made now. Today they make parking, a camping field and some sollar panels at the south east corner. Chicken and farm houses are still same but barn is connected to the road now and also there is a holiday cottage is constructed with a parking. The whole chaning is about a step took to save the whole environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the farm shop, parking, camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages, and note that the river and some agricultural areas remain. However, the account only partially summarises the plans: it does not clearly distinguish the 1950 layout from today, and the claim that the fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables are all unchanged overlooks their altered arrangement and the new road network. The overview is also unclear; “The whole chaning is about a step took to save the whole environment” gives an unsupported interpretation rather than summarising the site’s main transformation. Focus on the broad shift from a traditional farm to a site with visitor facilities, while accurately describing what stayed and what changed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes a sequence of comparisons, and phrases such as “On the other hand” and “Today” attempt to guide the reader. However, ideas are not arranged into a clear overall progression: the opening is incomplete, and the response moves from the river to fields, then to new facilities and finally to an unsupported environmental claim. Several details are crowded into long sentences, especially the sentence beginning “there is a track in the mid of the plan,” making relationships between features difficult to follow. Use a clear introduction and overview, then organise details into paragraphs—for example, agricultural areas and access first, followed by buildings and visitor facilities. More precise linking and referencing would make the comparisons easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “river,” “track,” “vegetables,” “camping field” and “holiday cottage,” so the reader can identify many of the features being compared. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “farmer shop” is not the appropriate name for the facility, and “the whole chaning” is difficult to interpret. There are also spelling errors such as “tress” and “sollar.” Aim for accurate map vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “farm shop,” “the site has been redeveloped,” and “visitor facilities.” Check spelling carefully and avoid vague phrases such as “different type of things.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, for example, “by passing through it you can see some sections,” and you use present and past references to compare the plans. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. The opening, “The plans showing the differences involved in 1950 to today of the site,” is not a complete sentence. Other problems include “the plan made in 1950 showing,” “Chicken and farm houses are still same,” and “there is a holiday cottage is constructed,” where sentence structure, articles or verb forms are not controlled. Use straightforward complete sentences first, then add accurate comparison clauses, such as “While the fields remain, new visitor facilities have been added.”
