Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The figures represents the two different project plans of Beechwood Farm in two differnt time period.
The both figures illustrate the plan of the year 1950 while the other project is of same location of today site. In both project plans there is a dramatical difference in between them.
In the plan 1850 the project location is not well designed and not update. Meanwhile today project is well civilized and establishd. The major difference is of parking of cars, night camping field and the solar panels.
Furthermore in the past plan, roads, trafic parking, solar panels, and lastly, holiday cotages were not in the plan. But as the time passes a new plan is introduced which includes all the basic facilities that should be in plan. The recently plan shows all the thing that make the site a well established and have the economy worth.
In general, both figures have the huge difference. Recent plan have all the necessary things that should be in a farm site.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response recognises that the plans show Beechwood Farm at two different times and identifies some genuine changes, especially the addition of parking, a camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the comparison is mostly general rather than a clear account of the site’s main features. The year is incorrectly given as “1850,” and claims that the earlier plan had no roads are inaccurate: it shows tracks, while the current plan has roads. The response also overlooks important retained and changed features, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, the river, and the farmhouse and barn. The overview that the modern site is “well established” does not replace a precise summary of how the layout changed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to comparisons and a concluding statement, and connectors such as “Meanwhile” and “Furthermore” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is limited because the same broad point—that the plans differ and the newer site has more facilities—is repeated in the second and final paragraphs. The information is not grouped by location or by features that changed and remained, so the reader does not get a clear picture of the layout. Some linking is also awkward, as in “Furthermore, in the past plan…” followed by a long list. Organise the report into a concise overview and focused paragraphs comparing the western farm plots with the eastern facilities.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the broad idea that the site has changed, and terms such as “solar panels” and “camping field” are relevant to the plans. However, the range is basic and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a map. “Project plans,” “well civilized,” “economy worth,” and “all the basic facilities” do not precisely describe the changes shown; “traffic parking” is also unclear. Spelling errors, including “differnt,” “establishd,” and “cotages,” further reduce control. Use map-specific language such as “site,” “layout,” “track,” “converted,” and “added,” and choose neutral descriptions rather than judging the site as developed or economically valuable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Meanwhile” and a time clause beginning “as the time passes.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, tense and sentence construction are frequent enough to limit accuracy. For example, “The figures represents” should be “The figures represent,” while “The both figures” has an incorrect article pattern. “The recently plan shows” also has an incorrect adjective form and article, and “Recent plan have” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “The major difference is of…” is awkwardly constructed. Practise accurate present-tense descriptions and straightforward comparison structures before adding longer clauses.
