Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the farm’s crops, sheep, chickens, farmhouse, parking, camping, cottages and solar panels. However, the comparison is only partial: the overview says the site is “more organised” but does not clearly summarise the main changes, such as the addition of visitor facilities and the retention of some farming areas. Some locations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the 1950 crops are described as being “in left side of the tracks,” although they are southwest of the track, and the present-day parking and camping locations are confused. Develop a clearer overview and compare the main changes accurately, using the map’s directions and relationships.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic chronological structure: it first describes 1950 and then introduces the present with “By the contrast.” This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison, and some features are grouped by period. However, progression within each paragraph is difficult to follow because several locations are compressed into long, loosely connected strings, such as “holiday cottages, fram dwelling and bran along the river side.” The opening overview also does not lead clearly into the details. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the overview and the two maps, and organise details by area or by changes. More accurate linking phrases and clearer references would make the relationships between features easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt relevant map vocabulary, including “cultivation,” “infrastructure,” “camping field,” “holiday cottages” and “solar panels,” showing some awareness of the topic. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret, including “agricultral,” “otline,” “fuitr,” “vegtables” and “fram dwelling.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “agriculture estate” and “along the river side” do not clearly describe the site’s layout. Aim for accurate, conventional terms such as “fields,” “facilities,” “located” and “to the north/east of.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise location vocabulary would make your descriptions more reliable and easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is weak and errors frequently make the relationships between features unclear. For example, “the fruit trees, soft fruit and vegtables these cultivation ares are located” has no clear grammatical structure, while “on the bottom near river there is a chicken, framhouse and barn location” has problems with articles, number and sentence construction. Tense and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “will contructed in future” when describing a map of the present. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent present-tense forms for map descriptions. Check articles, plurals, prepositions and punctuation when editing.
